Staff – April 28, 2024

In late January, Blackwater Reports made the decision to discontinue its weekly reports of arrests in Currituck County. This decision was guided by an internal assessment criterion: “Is the Public Interest Served?” After careful consideration, we concluded that the weekly arrest reports did not sufficiently serve the public interest. However, it was determined that crimes involving children, murder, or attempted murder warranted public attention and thus would continue to be reported on. We want to assure the community that we will continue to monitor reports closely to ensure that important developments are brought to light.
