Staff Report – August 27, 2024

Currituck County Sheriff’s Deputies made a concerning number of drug-related arrests last week, highlighting the exceptional work of the men and women on patrol. Four individuals from Baltimore, MD, and nearby areas were arrested on cocaine-related charges, with two facing serious trafficking charges. Additionally, five more individuals were arrested for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.
In a separate matter, five local residents were arrested for failure to appear in court. It’s perplexing that some believe skipping a court appearance will make the issue disappear; in reality, it only exacerbates the situation. Weekly arrest reports consistently show that hard drugs are often being trafficked by individuals from outside the county, posing a serious threat to our community.
