Following our report, “Exposing the Scheme: The Board of Commissioners’ February 15, 2024, Secret Packet,” which delved into the InsightGlobal debacle, the Currituck County Manager job posting has finally been removed from their website after being advertised for over 144 days. Notably, despite Bob White, Chair of the Board of Commissioners, requesting InsightGlobal to remove the job posting, it took them more than 144 days to comply. White also directed the county attorney, Megan Morgan, to demand that InsightGlobal take down the listing. However, the most troubling aspect of this situation is the lack of evidence that the county followed through on this demand. County staff have consistently stated that all records have been provided, yet no record of any follow-up action was given to Blackwater Reports. Considering the severity of this debacle and the censuring of a commissioner over the job posting, the county should have issued a demand letter or taken legal action. At the end of the day, this only fuels the fire suggesting the InsightGlobal issue was used to target Commissioner Paul Beaumont, especially since five of the seven commissioners had voted not to renew the county manager before White’s unilateral decision to notify former manager Donald “IKE” McRee.
