Thom Roddy, founder of Blackwater Reports, is currently immersed in creating a documentary uncovering the Beaumont – InsightGlobal Affair, which prompted Currituck County’s censure of Beaumont. Amidst his investigative efforts, Roddy emphasized, “We’ve published nearly every document released by the county,” yet no single document supports the censure. Sorting through hundreds of records, Roddy unearthed a crucial point he felt compelled to share publicly. Addressing Commissioner Bob White’s insinuation that Beaumont was the source for his reports, Roddy clarified that not a single report with any detail was published until, after analyzing over 160 emails between six commissioners, made public on January 29, 2024. “Bob White, the 160 plus emails, and Selina Jarvis were my primary sources,” Roddy affirmed, highlighting the significance of these records. He underscored the value of the information provided by Jarvis, referring to it as the “key to the (treasure) chest.” Moreover, Roddy noted the continuous discovery of new insights from past and present county employees, who have come forward as verified sources since February 2024.

At a February 2024 Board of Commissioners meeting, many members expressed surprise upon learning about the county’s public records portal, which allows the public to access all requests and released records. Blackwater Reports monitors the portal and downloads all relevant records.
