BlackwaterReports asked:

  1. Who are you, and why are you running?
  2. What are your top three priorities?
  3. Will you commit to your voters that you will fight for your priorities?
Janet Rose

These are Janet Rose’s unedited responses:

My name is Janet Williams Rose. I have been a resident of Currituck county my whole life. I am running for commissioner because I am very concerned with the direction our county is heading and feel we need to make some changes. Our population increased approximately 55% over the last twenty years and is projected to grow by 67% over the next twenty years. I do not feel we were prepared, in regards to infrastructure, for this growth we are experiencing. As a result we have seen a large tax increase this past year and we are told to expect another increase this year. We have to plan better for the growth. We must do better.

My top three priorities are:

  • Revising the Unified Development Ordinance to better manage residential growth.
  • Increasing commercial growth.
  • Finding a way to build the infrastructure needed without placing large tax burdens on our citizens.

I will fight to address the issues I feel are having a negative impact on our county. I will work hard with members on the board to fix the problems we need to address. I will have an open line of communication with all stakeholders.  I will be a voice for the citizens of Currituck.
