Currituck welcomed Wounded Warriors in Action (WWIA) Heroes to the 13th Annual OBX Fins and Feathers. County residents lined Highway 168 and 158 leading to the Outer Banks, signaling their appreciation and arrival in Currituck’s Hunter’s Paradise.

“Wounded Warriors in Action” (WWIA) is a non-profit organization that provides outdoor activities and events for wounded veterans. They aim to help veterans in their healing process by offering opportunities for therapeutic outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.

The organization is not affiliated with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), another well-known veterans’ charity.

The Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) is a volunteer organization that primarily focuses on attending the funerals of fallen military personnel, first responders, and veterans. The organization was formed in 2005 to counteract protests by the Westboro Baptist Church at military funerals. It has since expanded its mission to include various events honoring those who have served their country.
